Steve is the Director of Security Engineering in Cisco's Security & Trust Organization. He has a passion for DevSecOps and a thirst for disruption. Steve pioneered the development of common security solutions to break down product-specific security solutions. These common security modules are now some of the most widely used software components in the Cisco product portfolio.
Steve also led revolutionary change to drive automation into the US Government's FIPS compliance efforts in an extremely risk-adverse multi-corporation environment. He is now driving change in Third-party software which is Cisco’s largest source of product vulnerabilities. He leads Cisco’s SBOM, application security and risk prioritization initiatives.
Steve has a Computer Engineering degree from Virginia Tech, a Masters’ of Software Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Masters’ of Business Administration from NC State. He is a father of four children and he resides in Cary, NC. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, running and basketball.
